Aduana End Kotoko’s FA Cup Defence After Dramatic Penalty Shootout
Asante Kotoko’s quest to retain the MTN FA Cup title came to a painful end on Sunday, as Aduana FC edged the Porcupine Warriors 4-2 on penalties in their Round of 16 clash.
The encounter produced few clear-cut chances in open play, with both teams cancelling each other out over 90 minutes. Kotoko, however, missed a golden opportunity to tilt the game in their favour when Samba O’Neil failed to convert from the penalty spot, a moment that ultimately proved costly.
Aduana kept their composure in the shootout, converting four of their kicks to seal progression, while Kotoko faltered under pressure. The game also featured contentious moments, including strong penalty appeals from the Dormaa-based side that were waved away by the referee.
With the victory, Aduana FC book a place in the quarter-finals, where they will take on Techiman Liberty in the next round of the competition.
