Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has expressed deep frustration over what he described as poor officiating in their 0-0 draw with Bibiani Gold Stars in Week 32 of the Ghana Premier League.

The highly anticipated clash, held at the Bibiani Dun’s Park, ended in a stalemate despite both teams pushing for a crucial win to stay in contention for the league title. Kotoko, who entered the game with hopes of closing the gap at the top of the table, created numerous chances but were unable to convert.

Speaking in a post-match interview aired on Peace FM, Sarfo Duku did not mince words about his dissatisfaction with the performance of the match officials.

“Kotoko has been robbed. The team has done well, traveling all the way from Kumasi to Bibiani, and we played well enough to deserve a win. The whole stadium was excited. Everybody who watched the game knows Kotoko has been robbed,” Duku stated.

He further emphasized that tactically, Kotoko outplayed their opponents and created the better chances throughout the encounter.

“You saw that tactically, everything — Kotoko were ahead of them. And all the decent chances, all the dangerous moves, Kotoko created them,” he lamented.

Duku squarely blamed the officials for denying Kotoko what he felt was a deserved victory.

“The match officials denied us a clear victory. We will take it like that. The authorities all saw it; we don’t need to complain to them. We just hope things change,” he added.

Despite the setback, Asante Kotoko remains in the title race, though their margin for error has narrowed significantly. The Porcupine Warriors currently sit third on the league table with 55 points, five behind league leaders Nations FC, with two matches remaining.

Kotoko will now shift focus to their penultimate fixture of the season, a crucial home clash against Medeama SC on Saturday, June 1st, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
