Accra 2023: Bawumia expresses ‘full confidence’ in Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasised his trust in the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, following role in ensuring the commencement of the 2023 Africa Games on time.

Ghana launched a 100-day countdown to the start of the multisport event on Wednesday, November 29, with both Bawumia and Ussif leading dignitaries to inspect the facilities to be used for the games.

The Borteyman Sports Complex and the University of Ghana facilities are near completion to host the 23 sporting events in March 2024 during the 13th edition of the games.

Bawumia, addressing the audience present at the launch, commended the efforts of the Sports Minister for his leadership and dedication in steering the preparations for the games.

“The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, has demonstrated exceptional leadership in ensuring Ghana’s readiness for the 13th African Games. His commitment to excellence and his strategic vision for the broader socio-economic impact of the Games are commendable,” he said.

“I have full confidence in the Minister for Youth and Sports and his Staff, and the Local Organizing Committee to organize the best African Games to date that would portray all our ideals and aspirations, not only for the Games but also for the people of our beloved continent, Africa.”

Over 3,500 athletes and officials from 55 countries are expected in Ghana to compete in 23 Sporting disciplines over the 16-day period.
