Ryan Mendes shone for Cape Verde in their 3-0 victory over Mozambique at the AFCON 2023, scoring an excellent goal to be named Man of the Match.

Mendes stole the ball and confidently finished in the 47th minute to double Cape Verde’s lead, after Bebé had broken the deadlock with a long-range strike earlier in the first half.

It was a superb individual performance from Mendes, who caused problems for the Mozambique defence all game with his pace and trickery on the ball.

His well-taken goal and incredible performance secured victory for Cape Verde and assured their place in the round of 16 with two wins from two in Group B.

The Blue Sharks will now look to finish top of the group when they face off against Egypt, riding high on Mendes’ match-winning display against Mozambique.
