Ghana international, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh made his debut start for FC Zürich in their 2023-24 Swiss top-flight league as they beat Yverdon Sporting Club.
On Sunday, the winger secured a starting berth in their opening fixture of the season as they picked a 2-0 triumph at the Letzigrund to Yverdon. Barnieh was very influential in his outfit, sweet victory as he operated on the left side of the attack to help FC Zürich.
FC Zürich secured a first half lead with a 27th minute after Jonathan Okita scored to put FC Zürich in the lead after a cross from Fabian Rohner, where he met with a diving header. The side managed to end the half with a 1-0 lead.
10 minutes after recess, Katic finished off at the second post from Conde pass to make it 2-0 with Yverdon failing to settle down.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh played 69 minutes for FC Zürich, as he was replaced by Kosovo national team player Donis Avdijaj.
It was Barnie’s first start since joining the club from Hearts of Oak SC early 2023.
FC Zürich are 2nd on the Switzerland Super League league table with 3 points after one match.
