Accra Lions will host newcomers Vision FC on matchday 2 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 16, 2024. 

The two teams will be meeting for the first time in the Ghanaian top division but have been long-time rivals during their time in the Division One, where both clubs played in Zone 3.

Accra Lions’ season started with a defeat in Tarkwa against former champions Medeama SC while Vision FC secured their first-ever point in the Premier League after a goalless draw against Berekum Chelsea.

Both teams will be looking for their first win in the league when they face off at the Accra Sports Stadium.

However, Accra Lions’ experience in the top division is expected to hand them the edge over their rivals despite losing several of their key players in the transfer window.

The host transferred their top-scorer from the league last season Mohammed Yahaya to KF Egnatia of Albania while captain Mohammed Shawkan joined Tunisian giants Club Africain.

Meanwhile, they beefed up their squad with the signings of some of the brightest youngsters including Nigerian forward Lucky Nwafor.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko will be heading into his fourth campaign in the Ghana Premier League with hopes of doing better than the second place finish last season.

Vision FC coach Nana Agyemang has set the objective of finishing in the top four in their first season.
