The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has expressed deep regret following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana failed to make it to the AFCON in Morocco for the first time in 20 years; with many calling for the sack of head coach Otto Addo

Speaking on Asempa FM, Asante Twum acknowledged the unprecedented nature of the team’s poor performance in the qualification campaign, which saw Ghana fail to win a single match in six games.

“I would like to apologize to Ghanaians for the massive disappointment of not qualifying for the AFCON,” Asante Twum said. “I have followed the Black Stars for two decades and I have not seen anything like this before; that we go into qualifiers, play six games, and not win a single game. I have not seen that before.” He said.

The Black Stars’ dismal campaign concluded with a disappointing draw against Angola, leaving them fourth in Group F with only three points and two goals scored. The result has intensified public criticism of the team, coaching staff, and GFA leadership.
