Didi Dramani Praises Hearts of Oak Discipline After Tactical Win Over Nations FC
Head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has credited his players for delivering on their tactical instructions following Accra Hearts of Oak’s narrow victory over Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League.
Mawuli Wayo’s decisive strike secured a 1-0 win for the Phobians, a result that keeps them firmly in the title conversation. Hearts now sit on 49 points, closing the gap on second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars to just two points after their rivals fell to league leaders Medeama SC.
Reflecting on the contest, Dramani highlighted the challenge posed by Nations FC, noting their direct and fast-transition style as a key factor in his team’s preparation.
“Nations are one of the formidable sides in terms of their transitional play and direct football, so we really knew that we were going to deal with more of direct balls,” he said.
The Hearts coach explained that his side had focused on neutralising those threats, particularly the tendency of their opponents to bypass build-up play.
“They don’t build up most of the time from goal kicks; they just put the ball in behind and go in for the second balls. These were things we really worked on, and I think the boys did exactly what we expected,” he added.
The result not only strengthens Hearts of Oak’s push up the table but also underscores the effectiveness of their tactical execution against a difficult opponent, as the league season approaches its decisive phase.
