Tanko Hails Medeama’s Resilience After Hard-Fought Draw with Hohoe United
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has lauded his players for their determination and fighting spirit after earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Hohoe United in their Matchday 8 Ghana Premier League fixture on Saturday.
In a tense encounter at the Hohoe Sports Stadium, the defending champions were forced to come from behind after Francis Odoom gave the home side an early lead. However, a composed second-half finish from Abdul Salah salvaged a point for the Yellow and Mauves.
Speaking after the match, Coach Tanko expressed satisfaction with the team’s response, noting that Medeama showed character and could have easily claimed all three points with better finishing.
“I think looking at the performance we put on, I think it’s a deserved [result] if not normally we should have won because we had most of the chances,” Tanko told reporters. “I think one point away is good.”
He further highlighted the team’s persistence, especially after conceding first in a difficult away fixture.
“Like I said, we had the chances, even our defender Kamaradini [Mamudu] missed two, but I mean, we are playing away and going 1-0 behind, you have to do more, and I’m happy that they came back, and this kind of performance is good for going forward,” he added.
Tanko’s men will now shift their focus to a top-of-the-table clash against league leaders Aduana FC on Matchday 9.
