Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko believes his side has what it takes to book a place in the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup, despite expecting a stern test from FC Samartex.

The Yellow and Mauves welcome their fellow Ghana Premier League campaigners to the TnA Stadium this weekend in a Round of 16 encounter that promises to be keenly contested.

Ahead of the fixture, Tanko was quick to acknowledge the form and resilience of Samartex, describing them as a dangerous opponent, especially away from home. Nonetheless, the Medeama boss is confident his team’s preparation and home advantage will prove decisive.

“FC Samartex is a very strong side. Last five games, they have not lost, and they play very well when they go away. They went to Aduana and picked a point, so definitely they are a real threat,” Tanko told Medi TV.

He added that Medeama intend to dictate proceedings from the outset and turn their dominance into goals. “But like I said, we are playing at home, we want to control the game and create chances. I think, based on the training we are doing, I’m sure we are going to get the needed result.”

The MTN FA Cup Round of 16 showdown between Medeama SC and FC Samartex is scheduled scheduled for Saturday, February 7, with kickoff set for 5:00 pm at the TnA Stadium.
