“Return the Black Stars to their glory days”- President Mahama to Kofi Adams
President John Dramani Mahama has tasked newly appointed Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, with prioritizing the development of all sporting disciplines, beginning with a strategic focus on reviving the fortunes of Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars.
The President’s call comes at a time when the Black Stars have faced significant challenges on and off the pitch, leading to concerns among fans and stakeholders about the team’s competitiveness on the international stage.
Speaking at Adams’ swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, President Mahama underscored the importance of ensuring the Black Stars return to their former glory as a dominant force in African and global football.
“I expect that you concentrate on building up all the sporting disciplines. I know the Ghana Football Association would be a good place to start to make sure that we return the Black Stars to their glory days,” President Mahama stated, emphasizing the critical role football plays in uniting and inspiring the nation.
The Black Stars will focus on the World Cup qualifiers after failing to qualify for the AFCON 2025.
