Hearts of Oak defender Ransford Mensah has declared his determination to help the Phobians secure a regulation-time win in the upcoming Homowo Cup clash against Heart of Lions, while rallying fans to show up in large numbers to back the team.

The highly-anticipated fixture is scheduled for Sunday, August 17, with Hearts eager to defend their crown in the second edition of the competition.

Reflecting on last year’s tournament, where the Phobians lifted the trophy after a tense penalty shootout, Mensah acknowledged their gratitude for that triumph but emphasized that the team’s goal this year is to get the job done within 90 minutes.

“We need to win it for Hearts of Oak supporters. During the first edition we won on penalties and we are grateful to God. However, we want to win in regulation time this time in the second edition,” Mensah told Ghana Premier League reporter Shaban Mohammed.

He further expressed confidence in the team’s preparation under head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani. “We are confident in what the coach has taught us. We will win but not on penalties. We are really prepared and ready for the game. I plead with the fans to come to the stadium in their numbers,” he added.

With training intensifying ahead of the showdown, the Phobians are aiming for a convincing display to clinch back-to-back Homowo Cup titles.
