Queiroz Urges Ghana to Build Black Stars Success Beyond the Pitch

Departing Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has urged Ghanaian football authorities to look beyond results on the pitch, insisting that the long-term success of the national team will depend on building stronger structures off the field.

The Portuguese coach, who confirmed his departure following Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, believes sustainable progress can only be achieved by investing in the systems that prepare, support and nurture players.

In his farewell message, Queiroz stressed that creating the right environment around the national team is just as important as tactical preparation and performances during matches.

“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Black Stars success must start off the field, by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent,” he wrote.

The veteran manager’s remarks come after a four-month spell in charge during which he guided Ghana to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2010.

Although his time with the Black Stars has come to an end, Queiroz leaves behind a clear message that future success will require a collective commitment from administrators, coaches and stakeholders to strengthen the foundations of Ghanaian football.

His farewell serves not only as a reflection on the World Cup campaign but also as a blueprint for what he believes is necessary to ensure the Black Stars remain competitive on the international stage for years to come.
