Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has unveiled Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following months of scouting, performance assessments and consultations as preparations enter their final phase.

The squad combines experienced internationals with a number of players set to make their World Cup debuts when the tournament begins in Canada, Mexico and the United States later this month.

In goal, Queiroz has selected Benjamin Asare, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang as his three tournament goalkeepers, while Solomon Agbesi has been included as an additional squad member.

One of the notable changes sees Cyprus-based defender Derrick Luckassen earn a place in the team after replacing Alexander Djiku. The experienced centre-back was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a hamstring injury expected to sideline him for at least six weeks.

Several players will be appearing at the FIFA World Cup for a second time, bringing valuable tournament experience to the Black Stars setup. Captain Jordan Ayew headlines that group alongside Thomas Partey, Iñaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah and Baba Abdul Rahman.

At the same time, Queiroz has handed opportunities to a number of players who will be making their first appearance on football’s biggest stage. Jerome Opoku, Kojo Oppong Peprah, Abdul Mumin, Benjamin Asare, Joseph Anang, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Prince Kwabena Adu are all set for their World Cup debuts.

The Black Stars will complete the final part of their preparations with an international friendly against Wales in Cardiff on June 2 before travelling to Washington to establish their training base ahead of the tournament’s opening match on June 11.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L and will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17. The Black Stars will then face two stern tests against England and Croatia as they seek a place in the knockout stages.
