Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum expressed his satisfaction after his team secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 21 encounter on Wednesday night.

A solitary goal from defender Daniel Adjetey at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was enough to hand the Porcupine Warriors all three points in what turned out to be a tightly contested fixture.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Ogum acknowledged Chelsea’s resilience, noting that their direct approach and aerial dominance posed a significant challenge for his side.

“I think it was a very physical game, looking at the manner in which Chelsea played, resorting to direct long balls. They are very good aerially. It made the game challenging, especially in the middle of the park,” he explained.

Despite Kotoko’s narrow win, Ogum admitted that the opposition had their moments and tested his team’s resolve.

“It was a balanced game, that’s what I will say, because somewhere down the line, they also came into the picture, then tried to run us down. It was a very challenging game, but at the end of the day, the important thing is that we won,” he added.

The win sees Asante Kotoko climb to the top of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League table with 45 points, strengthening their bid for the title.
