I’ve not stopped Ghana Beach Soccer, but I’m no longer Chairman – Yaw Ampofo Ankrah
Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has clarified that he has not stepped away from Ghana Beach Soccer entirely, but has only relinquished his position as Chairman.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah was the Chairman of the Beach Soccer Federation for years before he was appointed as the new Director for the National Sports Authority earlier this year.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s SportsNite, the experienced sports journalist and beach soccer pioneer explained that holding both positions would create a conflict of interest.
“I have not stopped Ghana Beach Soccer, but I am not the chairman again because I cannot be NSA boss at the same time. It’s to prevent conflict of interest,” he stated.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been instrumental in the promotion and development of beach soccer in Ghana. Though no longer in charge, he assured that his passion and commitment to the sport remain strong.
