Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has emphasized the significance of his team’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League, describing it as a major confidence booster.

A 14th-minute deflected strike from Samuel Tenedu proved to be the difference at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, securing Kotoko their third consecutive win and extending their unbeaten run to four matches.

The victory sees the Porcupine Warriors move one point clear at the top of the table, benefiting from Bibiani Gold Stars’ failure to win against Hearts of Oak.

Speaking after the match, Ogum praised his squad for their resilience and energy despite the demanding fixture schedule.

“I will commend the players for the good job they’ve done so far. If you look at the tight schedules of the fixtures, it doesn’t give players enough time to rest, but they’ve shown high levels of energy in all the matches played,” he said.

The Kotoko boss also highlighted the importance of maintaining their winning momentum.

“For the victory, I think it’s a good one for us. It gives us a lot of confidence. To play in the Ghana Premier League and be on top gives you a lot of hope,” Ogum added.

With momentum firmly on their side, the league leaders will shift their focus to their next home fixture against Berekum Chelsea, aiming to solidify their position at the summit of the Ghana Premier League.
