Prince Tagoe Criticizes Black Stars Players for Failing to Appreciate Their Fans

Spread the love

Former Ghana international Prince Tagoe has called on current Black Stars players to demonstrate more appreciation to supporters, insisting that stronger connections with fans can positively influence the team’s fortunes.

Speaking on Sporty FM in Accra, the ex-forward expressed concern that the present crop of national team players are not showing enough love to the people who consistently back them.

“As Black Stars players, if you don’t show enough love to the people who support you, it’s a problem. I don’t see the current crop of Black Stars players doing that, and that’s why people say they are stingy.”

Tagoe suggested that the relationship between players and supporters goes beyond performances on the pitch. According to him, gestures of appreciation can strengthen public goodwill and inspire deeper emotional support for the team.

“When players of the Black Stars show love, the fans will use some of that to pay offering in church and pray for them. Football is not just about talent.”

The former striker emphasized that national team football carries a cultural and emotional dimension, especially in Ghana, where supporters invest spiritually and emotionally in the team’s success.

His comments come at a time when the Black Stars are seeking to rebuild strong bonds with fans following mixed performances in recent competitions.
