“Preparation Key to Black Stars’ World Cup Hopes”- Kobby Mensah
Ghanaian coach Bismark Kobby Mensah has expressed optimism about the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but stressed that success will depend heavily on proper preparation and honest introspection.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a result that has prompted a lot of opinions from the football fraternity and the public.
However, Ghana has the chance to qualify for their fifth World Cup if they churn out good results in the rest of the qualifying games.
In an interview with Asempa FM, the former Black Galaxies assistant coach remarked that the team needs to prepare well in order to qualify.
“It is possible to qualify for the World Cup. You can never say never, but it comes down to preparations. We need to have a honest assessment without blame games on why we did not qualify for the AFCON so that we can correct the wrong things and prepare well for the World Cup qualifiers.” He said.
Ghana are second in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers with nine points and would face Chad next in March 2025.
