Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has called on his players to maintain their concentration and intensify their efforts as Ghana edges closer to securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The German-trained tactician stressed that despite the team’s strong performance so far, the job is far from finished and complacency could prove costly.

Ghana have enjoyed an impressive run in the qualification series, recording five victories and one defeat. The results have placed the Black Stars top of Group I with 15 points, as they head into the September international window.

Speaking ahead of the next fixture against Chad, Otto Addo highlighted the importance of staying sharp in order to pick up the remaining points needed to confirm qualification.

“I mean, like I said, we’re very close, but we’re not there yet. And yeah, I just try to emphasise to the players that they have to work even harder now. Nobody should relax or think it will go by itself. It’s hard work, hard work. And for this, we have to be very, very sharp and focused and to push each other. And then I think if we do so, we will get the right results. I like it this way rather than the other way around,” Otto Addo told ghanafa.org.

The Black Stars will face Chad on September 4 before returning home to host Mali on September 8, in fixtures that could potentially seal their qualification.
