Otto Addo Hails Kwasi Sibo After Impressive Black Stars Debut
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has praised Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo for his outstanding display on his debut in Ghana’s crucial World Cup qualifying win over Mali.
The 27-year-old was handed a starting role alongside Thomas Partey in midfield, stepping in after Elisha Owusu’s suspension and Ibrahim Sulemana’s injury created space in the squad.
“First of all, big congrats to him. I think, he really did well,” Addo said after the match. “It is not easy to come from a certain environment to fit in the squad but he knows a lot of players in the team and he connected very well.
“He is very confident and I think he did extremely well when you see this is his first performance. He is a warrior. Throughout you could see and I think for the future things well even get better but like for all players his performance for the club will decide for his next call up. The next window is pretty close and I am sure he will be in the squad.”
Sibo’s assured display in the middle of the park drew admiration from fans and teammates alike, with his composure and work rate proving vital in the hard-fought victory.
The Spain-based midfielder has been making steady progress at club level, playing a key role in Real Oviedo’s promotion campaign to La Liga last season and now enjoying his first steps in Spain’s top division.
