Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has credited his team’s extended training period during the Ghana Premier League’s suspension for their commanding 3-1 victory over Bechem United at the TNA Stadium.

The league resumed over the weekend after being halted for several weeks following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed during a violent altercation at Kotoko’s away fixture against Nsoatreman.

Tanko, who recently took charge of Medeama, highlighted the benefits of the additional training sessions, stating that they helped refine the team’s tactical approach and overall cohesion.

“We had a very good game against a well-organized team,” Tanko said after the match. “I think in the first half, we should have scored two or three more goals, but in the end, it was a deserved win for us. The extra training time helped us prepare well, and that played a part in our performance today.”

Following their strong return to league action, Medeama will face back-to-back away fixtures against Nations FC and Samartex on March 16 and 18, as they look to maintain their momentum.
