Lawrence Agyekum Makes Black Stars Debut in Victory Over Chad
Lawrence Agyekum made his first appearance for the Black Stars in their dominant 5-0 win over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Friday, March 21.
The Cercle Brugge midfielder was introduced in the 83rd minute, replacing Thomas Partey in the latter stages of the match at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite limited time on the pitch, Agyekum made an impact, helping control the tempo of play alongside club teammate Abu Francis.
The 21-year-old was the final substitution made by head coach Otto Addo, following the introductions of Francis, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jerome Opoku, and Jerry Afriyie.
Agyekum was among three debutants in the squad for the international break, alongside Christopher Bonsu Baah and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who also made his first appearance for the national team.
The promising midfielder will now look to build on his brief debut as Ghana prepares for their next qualifier against Madagascar in Morocco on Monday, March 24.
