Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo has shared his joy and admiration for teammate Thomas Partey, after forming a strong midfield partnership with the experienced star during Ghana’s successful qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Real Oviedo midfielder earned his first senior national team call-up during the Matchday 7 fixture against Mali, where he lined up alongside Partey — who now plies his trade with Villarreal — at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Since then, Sibo has been a consistent feature in the team, playing a key role in the crucial matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros, both of which sealed Ghana’s top spot in Group I. Their partnership in midfield has been widely praised by fans and analysts alike for its balance of energy, creativity, and composure.

Reflecting on his experience after Ghana’s 1–0 victory over Comoros, which confirmed the Black Stars’ qualification, Sibo expressed deep respect for Partey’s influence and leadership.

“He [Thomas] scored and assisted. He is someone I look up to because he is a Ghanaian and plays in Europe,” Sibo said.

“He played for big clubs in Europe and currently plays in Spain, just like me, so we both understand the roles we play in midfield. I am always happy to play alongside him, and I think it’s the same for him,” he added.

Sibo’s performances have earned him plaudits for his calmness under pressure and intelligent link-up play — qualities that complement Partey’s experience and tactical awareness.

Ghana wrapped up their qualifying campaign at the summit of Group I with 25 points from ten matches, finishing ahead of Madagascar and Comoros.

The Black Stars will learn their group-stage opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when the official draw takes place on December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
