Kwasi Sibo Backs Otto Addo to Lead Black Stars at 2026 FIFA World Cup
Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has thrown his full support behind Otto Addo, expressing confidence that the head coach is the right man to guide the Black Stars to a successful campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite Addo’s achievement of steering Ghana through a challenging qualification phase, sections of the football public have questioned his capacity to take the team to greater heights at the global showpiece.
However, Sibo — who earned his first national team call-up under the German-born tactician — insists Addo’s leadership and tactical approach have had a positive impact on the squad.
“Personally, I feel he has done a great job, and he is still doing a great job for the national team. Since I came to the national team, whatever tactics he has given to us, whatever instructions he gives before a game, when we deliver, we get the results,” Sibo told Joy Sports.
The Real Betis midfielder added that his personal experience under Addo has been inspiring, stressing that the coach’s philosophy has helped him and his teammates grow in confidence.
“My personal experience has been great, and I think he is a good guy to lead the nation to the World Cup,” he said.
Since making his debut, Sibo has featured in all three of Ghana’s recent international matches, playing a pivotal role as the team sealed qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The Black Stars will kick off their World Cup preparations next month with international friendlies against Japan and South Korea, as Addo looks to fine-tune his squad ahead of the tournament to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
