“Kurt Okraku’s biggest threat will be betrayal from his own football family” Sannie Daara
Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has issued a word of caution regarding the biggest challenge facing GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku following his appointment as 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Okraku’s elevation to one of CAF’s top positions has been met with praise across various sectors, as it symbolizes Ghana’s increasing influence in African football governance
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sportsnite, Sannie Daara noted that while the appointment is a great step for Ghanaian football, Okraku’s greatest threat may not come from external forces, but from within.
“Kurt Okraku’s biggest threat will be betrayal from his own football family. The ‘pull him down’ strategy and envy from home will be a threat,” he stated candidly.
However, Sannie Daara emphasized the importance of unity and constructive criticism from Ghanaians to ensure Okraku thrives in his new role.
“He needs the support of Ghanaians, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t criticize him when he goes wrong,” he added.
The former GFA spokesperson urged the football fraternity and the nation at large to balance their expectations with honest feedback and encouragement, highlighting the need for collective responsibility in shaping Ghana’s football trajectory.
