Minister for Sports and Recreation Designate, Kofi Adams, has outlined a bold vision to modernize the Winneba Sports College and introduce financial incentives to keep top players in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Speaking during his vetting, Adams stressed the importance of technical development and player retention to strengthen Ghana’s domestic football scene.

“We have talked about things that confront our Premier League. We will modernize the Winneba Sports College so that coaches will be trained there to help the league technically,” he stated.

The Winneba Sports College, which serves as Ghana’s primary coaching and sports education facility, has long required infrastructure upgrades and curriculum enhancements to align with modern football standards.

Kofi Adams also addressed player retention, acknowledging that many of Ghana’s best footballers leave the country for better financial opportunities abroad.

“We will also retain players by giving them some stipend so that they don’t go to other countries to play,” Adams added.
