Asante Kotoko have formally reacted to explosive claims made by former midfielder Justice Blay, following a revealing radio interview in which he accused ex-teammate Kwame Opoku of betrayal and made other damaging assertions about life in the club’s camp.

The club, through its Communications Director Sarfo Duku, described Blay’s comments as “very unfortunate” and confirmed that internal procedures are underway to address the matter.

Blay, whose contract with the Porcupine Warriors was terminated in June 2025, shocked fans and pundits when he alleged during a live radio interview that Kwame Opoku had been involved in a secret relationship with his girlfriend during their time together at the club. He also claimed that some former teammates, including Joseph Ablor and Camara Mohammed, smoked shisha at the club’s residence.

Reacting to the claims, Sarfo Duku told Luv FM, “Justice Blay’s comment is very unfortunate, it was least expected of him. As a club, we are looking at the whole issue, we are investigating it and we may come out officially at the appropriate time.”

Blay further stated that he reported the alleged incidents to the club’s technical handlers at the time but received no tangible resolution. While he maintained the issue was personal, the revelations have prompted widespread public debate, with many questioning the handling of internal conflicts within the club.

As investigations continue, Kotoko’s leadership appears keen on safeguarding the club’s image while addressing the controversy in a manner consistent with its values and internal disciplinary framework.
