Asante Kotoko’s preparations for the highly anticipated Super Clash against Hearts of Oak have been thrown into disarray following a dramatic incident at the club’s training base in Adako Jachie.

Interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu was reportedly forced to abandon a training session on Wednesday after a section of the club’s supporters stormed the grounds in protest against his appointment. Owusu, who had been serving as an assistant under former coach Karim Zito, was named interim boss earlier this week following Zito’s resignation.

The decision, however, has not gone down well with parts of the Kotoko fan base. According to eyewitnesses, supporters confronted the technical team, disrupted the session, and demanded that Owusu step aside. The situation became tense, prompting the coach to retreat to his vehicle for safety.

Training later resumed under the guidance of assistant coach Hamza Obeng, but the incident has further unsettled the club’s build-up to Sunday’s crucial Ghana Premier League fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kotoko’s season has already been under scrutiny, with the club trailing leaders Medeama SC by eight points and having suffered an early exit from the MTN FA Cup. The latest unrest adds to the growing uncertainty around the Porcupine Warriors as they brace for one of the biggest fixtures in Ghanaian football.
