Ghana Athletics has unveiled a compact but experienced squad for next month’s World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, with the country banking on a blend of speed and chemistry to make an impact on the global stage.

Leading the charge are Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, both expected to play pivotal roles in anchoring Ghana’s relay ambitions. They are joined by Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio and Ibrahim Fuseini, forming a five-man team built on pace and recent international exposure.

The event, set to be hosted in Gaborone, will bring together over 700 athletes representing nearly 40 countries. Beyond the medals, the competition carries added significance as a pathway to qualification for upcoming global championships, including the 2027 World Athletics Championships.

Ghana approaches the relays with renewed belief following a strong performance at the last world championships, where the men’s relay quartet clocked a national record and finished just outside the medals in fourth place.

With momentum on their side, the West African nation will be aiming to convert recent promise into podium contention, using the Botswana meet as a platform to further cement its growing reputation in sprint relays.
