Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul-Karim Zito has expressed satisfaction with his side’s progress following their goalless draw against Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors were held to a stalemate at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, marking their first home appearance since the venue reopened after maintenance works.

Despite failing to find the back of the net, Zito believes the performance reflected steady improvement.

“I’m okay with a point, it’s better than losing, but there is an improvement,” Zito told the media after the game.

Kotoko started the 2025/26 season with a narrow 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea, their only goal so far in the campaign. Coming off a morale-boosting victory against Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup, the Reds looked more dominant and creative against Heart of Lions but couldn’t convert their chances.

Zito acknowledged the team’s wastefulness in front of goal but remained optimistic that the goals will soon follow. He assured supporters that the technical team is working hard to sharpen the attack ahead of upcoming fixtures.

The Porcupine Warriors will next face defending champions Bibiani GoldStars on Wednesday, October 8, in an outstanding league game under the lights at 7:00 PM GMT, as they continue their quest to climb the Premier League table.
