Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has showered praise on the club’s supporters following their 0-0 stalemate with Bibiani Gold Stars in Week 32 of the Ghana Premier League.

Despite the goalless result at the Bibiani Dun’s Park making Kotoko’s path to the title more challenging, Coach Zito expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance and was particularly appreciative of the backing from the fans.

“We sold a good game to the supporters and they are all happy,” Zito said in his post-match interview. “The draw fits the game. Even though we hit the bar and so forth, I wanted to win and they had also wanted to win, but at the end of the day, we drew.”

The experienced tactician acknowledged the competitive nature of the match, which saw both teams push for a decisive result in a tense atmosphere. However, he reserved special praise for the Kotoko faithful who showed up in their numbers to rally behind the team.

“I like the way they came and I like their enthusiasm. They should continue supporting the club. Without them, there is no Kotoko,” he said.

Zito emphasized that the energy and passion displayed by the supporters played a role in motivating the players on the pitch and urged them to maintain that same spirit in the remaining matches.

The Porcupine Warriors are now gearing up for a must-win home encounter against Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, June 1. The match is crucial for Kotoko’s chances of keeping their slim title hopes alive, as they currently sit third on the league table with 55 points — five behind leaders Nations FC with two games left to play.

A victory against Medeama will be vital as Kotoko look to stay in contention for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title and end the season on a strong note.
