Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has admitted that his side faces a tough test in the upcoming MTN FA Cup final against lower-tier side Golden Kick, scheduled for Sunday, June 15, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Speaking in a pre-match interview with AKSC Media, Zito acknowledged the challenge that comes with facing a determined underdog in a high-stakes final.

“It’s going to be very difficult. Because in this competition, you see the smaller teams taking out the larger teams. The smaller teams motivate themselves going into games against the big teams, and that makes it very difficult,” Zito explained.

Golden Kick have already defied the odds by eliminating Premier League sides including Hearts of Oak and Karela United en route to the final, and their giant-killing reputation has not gone unnoticed by the Kotoko boss.

“We beating them is nothing, but if they beat us, it’s something. So that’s the most difficult part of the match we are going to play,” he added.

The Porcupine Warriors, though favourites on paper, are under pressure to deliver silverware after a mixed season in the Ghana Premier League. Victory on Sunday would not only crown their season with a trophy but also secure a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Golden Kick, on the other hand, are brimming with belief and have set their sights on finishing their fairy-tale campaign with a historic FA Cup triumph.

The final kicks off at 5:00 PM GMT and is expected to draw a packed crowd at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
