Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil was on the scoresheet again for LA Galaxy, but his sixth goal of the season could not prevent a 3-2 defeat at home to FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer.

The visitors wasted little time stamping their authority, taking the lead after just 10 minutes. Ender Echenique latched onto a pass from Jesus Ferreira and calmly slotted into the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Cincinnati doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute when Brenner Souza finished off a sweeping move involving Denkey and Ferreira, rifling the ball into the top corner.

Paintsil, however, brought Galaxy back into the contest midway through the second half. Rising highest inside the box, he met Diego Fagundez’s lofted delivery from the right and steered a powerful header into the bottom corner to cut the deficit.

Just as the home side were pushing for an equalizer, Cincinnati restored their two-goal cushion late on. In the 88th minute, Brenner struck again, this time curling a stunning left-footed effort into the top corner after being teed up by Ferreira.

Galaxy did manage to reduce the arrears deep into stoppage time, with Paintsil turning provider. His clever play on the flank set up Mauricio Cuevas, who drilled a low finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-2.
