Crystal Palace on Monday suffered a narrow defeat to Arsenal FC in week two of their 2023-24 English Premier league, following a second half goal by Martin Odegaard.

The Gunners advantageously had a 1-0 victory, courtesy a penalty won by Eddie Nketiah.

Ghanaian youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi who made a second half appearance for Crystal Palace has expressed disappointment in their defeat and believe his side deserve to have secured a point if not all maximum three points.

Rak-Sakyi, 20, was subbed on into the game on the 83rd minute to replace Joel Ward but could not inspire them to a draw.

The mercurial winger in an interview with club’s official website saying,

“We’re disappointed not to get the three points, but the team played well and we’re just happy that we worked hard and fought for the club.

“They were in a deep block and we knew it was going to be a difficult ask with the quality of players they have. At the end of the day, it wasn’t our day.

“It’s always going to be difficult when you’ve got 10 men behind the ball. It’s on us to keep patient and try and break through that line of defence. It was really difficult – we just couldn’t get the goal.

“We’ve just got to move on and hopefully we get the next win on Saturday.”

Crystal Palace will travel to Brentford in the next round of Premier League matches on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
