Black Queens midfielder Jennifer Cudjoe believes Ghana’s impressive performance at the recently concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has provided the ideal platform to prepare for their upcoming qualifier against Egypt.

Ghana and Egypt are set to clash in the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 WAFCON tournament. The first leg will take place in Egypt on October 20, with the return fixture scheduled for October 28 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Cudjoe expressed optimism about the team’s chances, citing the valuable experience gained during their 2024 WAFCON campaign in Morocco, where the Black Queens claimed a bronze medal — their first podium finish since 2016.

“They [Egypt] are also going to be a good test for us, but I feel like we’re just ready. I feel like this tournament has given us the upper hand to build on something,” Cudjoe said.

The Black Queens are now eyeing a semifinal berth at the 2026 tournament, which would also guarantee qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The team’s progress under head coach Kim Lars has reignited belief among fans and players alike, with the upcoming Egypt tie seen as a pivotal step toward their long-term goals.
