Ivory Coast U17s Outclass Ghana with 3-0 Triumph in WAFU B Qualifiers
Ivory Coast’s U17 national team delivered a commanding display on Tuesday evening, overpowering Ghana’s Black Starlets with a 3-0 win in the ongoing WAFU B U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Starlets entered the fixture under pressure after opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Togo. A victory over the Ivorians was crucial to keep their qualification hopes alive, but the young Elephants had other ideas.
The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Robinho Gavi Yao coolly slotted home to give Ivory Coast the lead. Despite Ghana’s efforts to respond, they failed to find their rhythm in attack before halftime.
The second period saw the Ivorians tighten their grip on the game, adding two more goals to put the result beyond doubt and complete a resounding 3-0 victory at Stade Konan Banny.
With the win, Ivory Coast remain firmly on top of Group A with six points from two matches. The defeat leaves Ghana’s U17 side with a must-win task in their final group clash against Niger if they are to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
