“Invest in Grassroots Development”- Kwasi Appiah to Mahama
Former Black Stars coach and current Sudan head coach, Kwasi Appiah, has urged Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to prioritize investing in the development of grassroots football to secure the future of the sport in the country.
In a recent interview, Appiah emphasized the importance of laying a strong foundation for football development, noting the risks of focusing solely on short-term goals.
“He [Mahama] should try to invest in the developmental level,” Appiah said. “If we don’t prioritize the future and only focus on the present, there will come a time when we won’t have a future.”
Appiah also suggested that Ghana should not only rely on current talent but prepare adequately for the next generation.
“I think that is one of the nation’s challenges right now because we depend on what we currently have instead of thinking about who we are developing to take over,” he explained. “We need to focus on that and provide the necessary support.” he added.
