Ibrahim Tanko Confident Ahead of Young Apostles Clash
Medeama Sporting Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko is backing his side to start the new Ghana Premier League season on a winning note when they face Young Apostles in their opening fixture.
The Yellow and Mauves, who endured an inconsistent campaign last term, will begin their 2025/26 journey with an away trip to the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa on Sunday, September 14.
Tanko, who previously managed Accra Lions, revealed in a pre-match interview that his players are in the right shape after a strong pre-season and are determined to secure all three points.
“We are going there to win, definitely. But I don’t think I can give you any results. Any team want to win their first game of the league, and I think we are going there to win. We have had a good pre-season, so we are definitely going there to win. I hope my team will give their best,” Tanko told Medi TV.
The match promises to be a tough contest, with newly promoted Young Apostles eager to make an impression in their debut Premier League season. However, Medeama’s experience and preparation could give them the edge as they look to make a strong statement in their opening game.
A positive start, Tanko believes, could be the spark that drives Medeama into a serious title challenge this season.
