Hearts of Oak SC announce Martin Koopman as new manager

The Continental Club Masters have officially confirmed the appointment of Dutch manager Martin Koopman as their new head coach.

Martin Koopman will be the boss of the first team as they set to make redemption of their performance when the 2023-24 league season starts few weeks time. The gaffer arrived in Ghana on Tuesday evening to finalise his deal after meeting board chairman Togbe Afede IV.

On Thursday, he was introduced to the players and the rest of the technical team as they build a new technical team following the sack of Serbian man Slavko Matic and resignation of David Ocloo, Ghanaian trainer.

With Hearts of Oak SC escaping relegation last season on the final day of the campaign following a goalless draw with Berekum Chelsea FC, is expected to give a very good account of themselves. Especially, under the stewardship of former Netherlands international Martin Koopman.

Nkrataasem.com understands, Koopman has signed a long-term contract with target of building a formidable team and winning every available trophy.

Koopman, 67, is a former Netherlands defender who played for Go Ahead Eagles, FC Twente and Cambuur.

Since stepping into football management, he has since worked as youth team and assistant coaches at his former club, Go Ahead Eagles and Cambuur.

His other works include stints at FC Groningen, FC Den Bosch, Veendam, AS Vita Club, Saudi Arabia, Shenyang Ginde, Roda JC, Al Nassr, RKC Waalwijk, Aruba and lastly Maldives, all as an assistant coach.
