GPL: Heart of Lions pull off upset against Kotoko
Kotoko lose two consecutive games this season
Heart of Lions stunned Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko with a 1-0 victory at the Len Clay sports stadium in Obuasi.
The match week 9 fixture was touted to be an exciting game prior to the start because Asante Kotoko lost in the mid week to Legon Cities and were hoping to bounce back.
Former Hearts of Oak forward, Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored the lone goal against at the Porcupine Warriors. His goal came in the 28th minute after Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara poorly cleared a ball in the way of the winger.
The victory is the first away win in the season for coach Bashiru Hayford’s boys and also marks Asante Kotoko’s second defeat of the season.
The Porcupine Warriors have descended the league log to the third position with 15 points while Lions have ascended to the sixth position with 14 points.
