Ghana U-15 Coach Kwaku Danso Reveals Areas of Improvement For Team
Head coach of Ghana’s U-15 boys’ national team, Kwaku Danso, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s early performances in the ongoing 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship – Ghana 2025 – while highlighting areas for improvement.
The host nation began their campaign on a strong note with a convincing 2-0 victory over Uganda at the University of Ghana Stadium on Wednesday, April 23. Ghana then followed up with a narrow 1-0 win over South Africa and a commanding 3-0 victory against Algeria to top their group with a 100 percent record.
However, despite the results, Coach Danso believes the scorelines didn’t fully reflect his side’s dominance, particularly in the opening game.
“It’s not bad but I am not much enthused,” Danso said after the win over Uganda. “We should have scored at least four goals but as a whole, it was not bad and we did very well.”
Danso acknowledged that the team’s slow start in the tournament opener was due to nerves and inexperience, considering the youthfulness of his squad.
“We didn’t start well because some of the boys don’t have exposure to this level, which accounted for the slow start. We are going to work on that,” he added.
“They are gradually getting the experience and we have to psych them up. Looking at their ages, you can understand that they are still adjusting so we have to be patient and understand that we are working towards a bigger picture here.”
The young Ghanaian side, participating in their first-ever CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals, have now emerged as one of the standout teams in the tournament.
The will lock horns with Tanzania today in the semi-finals.
