Ghana Badminton Association Unveils New Executive Council to Drive Next Phase of Growth
The Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) has ushered in a new era of leadership with the election of a dynamic Executive Council for the 2025–2029 term, following a successful Elective Congress.
The newly formed Council represents a forward-thinking blend of experience, professionalism, and innovation, with members drawn from sectors including education, law, insurance, sports, and academia. This diverse mix, according to the Association, is expected to propel badminton’s growth and enhance its national and international competitiveness.
The newly elected Executive Council comprises the following members:

Mr. Yeboah Evans, CGMA – President:
Re-elected to lead the Association, Mr. Evans is a seasoned sports administrator, finance, and technology consultant. His first term saw remarkable grassroots expansion, greater international participation, and the establishment of athlete development pathways. Under his renewed mandate, he aims to strengthen institutional capacity and build a sustainable high-performance structure for Ghana badminton. -
Mr. Ernest Adofo, CGIG – Vice President:
Currently the Regional Director of the National Insurance Commission, Mr. Adofo brings deep expertise in corporate governance and strategic risk management. His leadership is expected to reinforce the Association’s financial integrity and operational discipline. -
Hon. George Loh, Esq. – Executive Board Member:
A respected legal practitioner and former Member of Parliament, Hon. Loh joins the Council to provide guidance on legal, policy, and compliance matters, ensuring the Association operates within strong governance frameworks. -
Ahmad Abdul-Samad – Athlete Representative:
Elected by his peers, Ahmad brings the athletes’ perspective to the forefront of decision-making. With over 278 national and international appearances for Ghana, he embodies the Association’s principle of placing athletes at the heart of its vision. -
Prof. Emmanuel Sarpong – Executive Board Member (Central Region):
As Dean at the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Sarpong will lead initiatives to integrate badminton into school curricula and promote evidence-based sports education. His expertise bridges academia and sports innovation. -
Ms. Evelyn Nsiah Asare – Executive Board Member:
A renowned sports administrator, Ms. Nsiah Asare serves as CEO of Hasaacas Ladies FC, Lecturer and Sports Director at Sunyani Technical University, and Vice President of SWAG. She brings invaluable experience in sports management and media advocacy, expected to bolster grassroots programs and strategic partnerships. -
Ms. Princess Sefacor Sembia – Treasurer:
Ms. Sembia assumes responsibility for the Association’s financial health, focusing on resource mobilization and sustainable fiscal management to secure the long-term viability of Ghana badminton -
Mr. Alidha Barry – Executive Board Member (Central Region):
A respected educationist, Mr. Barry will lead efforts to integrate badminton into the school system, expand corporate collaborations, and enhance the sport’s commercial and educational visibility nationwide. -
Ms. Lilly-Vesta Nyarko – Executive Board Member (Ashanti Region):
A veteran national technical official, Ms. Nyarko is passionate about female inclusion in sports. She will spearhead initiatives aimed at boosting women’s participation and leadership in badminton at all levels. -
Mr. Abu Iyman – Acting Secretary General:
As the administrative backbone of the GBA, Mr. Iyman is tasked with ensuring smooth coordination between the Board, Secretariat, and stakeholders while driving operational efficiency.
The election process was overseen by officials from the National Sports Authority (NSA), led by Mr. Kwame Mensah Baah, Regional Director, and Mr. Hubert Leo Mensah, who administered the oath of office to the new executives.
The GBA expressed its gratitude to the NSA and all stakeholders who contributed to a transparent and credible electoral process.
