The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, says the Black Stars achieved their key objectives during the international break, even though the results did not go their way.

Ghana wrapped up their November friendlies with back-to-back losses, falling 2-0 to Japan in the Kirin Cup on Friday before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to South Korea at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. The matches formed part of the team’s preparations ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

While the scorelines were disappointing, Asante Twum insisted that the technical team gained the insights they were looking for.

“We had to deal with injuries, and we lost against Japan and South Korea, but the purpose for which these friendlies were played has been achieved,” he told Asempa FM.

According to him, the games helped the coaches assess new options, test tactical variations, and build cohesion among the squad despite the injury setbacks.

The Black Stars will regroup in March as their World Cup preparations continue. Otto Addo’s side will also discover their group opponents when the draw is conducted on December 5.
