The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced that the 2025 edition of the Champion of Champions match will be played on Sunday, August 31, 2025, signaling the ceremonial kickoff of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The high-stakes one-off fixture, organized in accordance with Article 9 of the Premier League Regulations, will see reigning Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars take on 2024/25 MTN FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko in a thrilling battle for early-season supremacy and silverware.

Gold Stars, who secured their first-ever Premier League title with a dominant campaign, will face a resurgent Kotoko side that returned to glory by clinching the FA Cup crown following a 2-1 victory over Golden Kick FC.

This year’s edition promises to deliver high-octane football, with both clubs eager to assert their dominance before the 2025/26 league season kicks off in mid-September.

Further details, including the venue and ticketing information for the upcoming clash between Gold Stars and Kotoko, will be communicated in the coming weeks, according to the GFA.

The match will also serve as a vital test for both teams as they prepare for continental engagements in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, respectively.
