FISU World Cup: UDS book place in Semis with Dominant Win Over Kyungil University
Ghana’s University for Development Studies (UDS) have advanced to the last four of the 2025 World University Games in Dalian, China, after a resounding 5-2 triumph over Kyungil University of South Korea.
The Tamale-based side lit up the quarterfinal clash with a brilliant attacking display, led by Ronald Frimpong, who stole the spotlight with a superb hat-trick. His clinical finishing set the tone for UDS, while teammate Zakaria Alhassan added two more goals to cap off a memorable performance.
Despite Kyungil University finding the back of the net twice, they struggled to cope with the pace, strength, and precision of the Ghanaian side, who proved relentless in their pursuit of victory.

With this result, UDS not only booked a historic semifinal spot but also stand tall as Ghana’s only representatives and the sole African side remaining in the global competition.
They will now await the conclusion of the final group stage fixture to discover their semifinal opponents as they continue their chase for glory on the world stage.
