The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding the Black Stars into one of Africa’s most formidable national teams.

Speaking in the aftermath of Ghana’s consecutive victories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum said the association is focused on long-term growth rather than short-term results.

As part of this rebuilding agenda, the Black Stars will participate in a high-profile four-nation tournament in London this May, featuring matches against Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and long-time rivals Nigeria. Ghana’s opening game in the tournament is scheduled for May 28 against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

According to Twum, the primary goal of the upcoming friendlies is not necessarily to win, but to strengthen the team’s cohesion, performance structure, and identity on the pitch.

“We want to try as much as possible to continue our rebuilding process, to continue the effort in making the team one of the best on the continent,” Twum said.

“We are not overly concerned about results. We are concerned about our team-building agenda.”

Ghana’s recent progress in the FIFA World Rankings—moving up one place—is seen as an early indication that the team is on the right track.
