FC Köln have announced the signing of German-Ghanaian forward Ragnar Ache in a move aimed at strengthening their attacking options ahead of their return to the Bundesliga.

The 26-year-old striker joins the club from FC Kaiserslautern, penning a long-term deal that will keep him at the RheinEnergieStadion until June 2029.

Ache, who was born in Frankfurt, began his football journey in the Netherlands after moving there at the age of 10. He developed through the youth system of Sparta Rotterdam and later broke into the first team, scoring seven goals in 39 appearances. His performances earned him a return to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Though his time in the Bundesliga was limited — with just one goal in 20 appearances — Ache gained valuable experience during a loan spell at Greuther Fürth and then truly flourished at Kaiserslautern. Over two seasons, he scored 41 goals in 88 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga, establishing himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the division.

Known for his physical strength, explosive pace, and sharp finishing, Ache is expected to play a key role in FC Köln’s ambitions to maintain top-flight status and build for the future.

In addition to his club exploits, Ache was part of Germany’s squad at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, showcasing his ability on the international stage.

FC Köln see Ache as a vital piece in their bid to compete at a higher level.
