FA Cup Chairman Wilson Arthur Confirms Readiness for Thrilling Semi-Final Weekend
The chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has assured football fans of a well-organized and entertaining weekend as the 2023/24 FA Cup enters its semi-final stage.
Speaking to Peace FM, Arthur revealed that all logistical and promotional preparations are complete ahead of the two high-stakes matches scheduled for Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium (TnA Stadium).
“If you look at the fever building up, if you look at the radio stations there [Tarkwa] promoting the games, it is very, very positive. Thank God everything is in place,” he stated.
In an effort to boost attendance and create a festive atmosphere, Arthur announced that organizers will host a food bazaar as part of the weekend’s events, coinciding with the celebration of Mother’s Day on Sunday.
“In fact, we will be doing a food bazaar; Sunday is Mother’s Day,” he added. “We’ve also done a curtain raiser for two schools on Saturday. Because they have a lot of old students and that rivalry between them, they will come along with fans, and that will help patronage for day one.”
The semi-final kicks off on Saturday with an all-second division clash between Attram de Visser and Golden Kicks—two sides not widely known in the Tarkwa area. Arthur acknowledged this challenge but outlined strategic plans to keep spectators engaged.
“We all know that Golden Kicks and Attram de Visser are not well known in that area, and we know in football if you are not able to create a festival, people come to watch stars. If they don’t have stars, it becomes tricky. This is our strategy,” he explained.
“They have a very hot DJ who is well liked in Tarkwa. He will perform at the program. There are a lot of little surprises added,” Arthur revealed.
On Sunday, Berekum Chelsea will face giants Asante Kotoko in what promises to be a blockbuster encounter, drawing huge interest from across the region and beyond.
With momentum building and excitement reaching a crescendo, Wilson Arthur is confident the TnA Stadium will deliver another successful showcase of domestic football.
