Egypt U20 Coach Osama Nabih Rallies Fans Ahead of Quarter-Final Clash with Ghana
Head coach of Egypt’s U20 national team, Osama Nabih, has expressed his belief that home support could prove decisive in their quarter-final showdown against Ghana at the ongoing 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The high-stakes encounter is set for Monday, May 12, at the Suez Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. local time. Both sides will be battling not only for a place in the semi-finals but also for automatic qualification to the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Coach Nabih acknowledged the strength of the Black Satellites but maintained confidence in his side’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“Yes, Ghana are strong. Yes, they’ve had more rest. But we are Egypt. My players are fully aware of the challenge and are ready to defend our dream,” Nabih told CAFOnline.
He also issued a rallying call to the Egyptian public, urging fans to come out in full force to support the team.
“We ask the fans to stand behind us in this national mission,” he said. “Their support will give us the push we need to overcome this difficult test.”
Ghana reached the quarter-finals after finishing second in Group C behind Senegal, while Egypt progressed from Group A after winning two of their three matches.
The winner of this match will advance to the semi-finals and secure one of Africa’s four available slots at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup.
